Downside is that you can’t charge the device while a USB stick is installed unless you use a USB hub with pass through charging (not tested). Also keeping media files on a USB stick may be more convenient in other ways (gives you flexibility which device you want to use for your media consumption, easy to copy files from your PC, plug into a travel router etc).

The one that is easiest for me is to install Sidequest, then install Android System Settings Launcher, then you can navigate to Android storage where the USB stick will show up, and either launch media files directly using Oculus TV or copy files back and forth to your internal storage.Ī 256GB USB-C memory stick is like $40 instead of $100 extra for the bigger Q2, just saying. HOWEVER I can confirm that the workarounds for the Quest 1 still work. TL/DR is that the Quest 2, like the Quest 1, does not natively support external storage using the built in interface even though the underlying Android does detect it. This is info I couldn’t find before buying my 64GB Q2 but hopefully this can help people make purchasing decisions.
